My name is James Sullivan. I’ve loved listening to music on the radio since the 1950s. If I heard something I liked I went out and bought 45s and albums to play on a record player. Since then, I’ve gone from vinyl to cassettes to CDs to downloading. Over that time I’ve been building a library of my favorite songs.
I worked as a radio DJ in the 1990s and I liked it a lot. Recently, with lots of retirement time on my hands, I thought I’d like to be a DJ again. Using modern “home studio” recording technology I have created a music show that plays on station WXOJ-LP in Florence/Northampton MA.
My one hour weekly show, featuring selections from my library of hundreds of songs, is called Alphabet Soup. Each week I cook up an A to Z mixed bag of songs from artists like Joan Armatrading to ZZ Top, and from genres like Americana to Zydeco. Songs from the 30s to the 20s, but mainly from the 1960s – 1990s. Some old memories and some new memories in the making.
I made this website so that anyone can listen to my WXOJ-LP shows past and present, on demand. WXOJ-LP shows – Click Here. Click on a link to a show date and it will open a media player.
Playlists from each show can be seen HERE.
There is no charge to listen. This site is free. No login is required and I collect no information about your visit.
You can listen to Alphabet Soup every Saturday at 11 AM via streaming at https://valleyfreeradio.org/listen/
